What Me and Jesus have in Common!

  • Karl Bastian from Kidology.org and KarlBastian.club

I know as Christ-followers, our goal is to become more like Jesus every day. But there's one thing He and I have in common that I doubt many people can claim...

Both of us were accidentally left at church by our parents.

Luke chapter 2 tells Jesus' story.

Mine happened back in the late 1970s.

My parents arrived at church in separate cars. After the service, each thought I had ridden home with the other. My two sisters made it home just fine, but I was happily exploring the church when I suddenly realized...

Everyone—and I mean everyone—was gone.

I wasn't scared. I simply sat on the front steps wondering how long it would take before someone noticed I was missing.

Eventually my family sat down for lunch.

My parents called for me.

No answer.

"Karl!"

Still no answer.

Finally one of them asked...

"Didn't you bring him home?"

Mom drove back to church to rescue me.

Thankfully, I wasn't there nearly as long as Jesus was.

My only regret?

I didn't think to say to my mom...

"Didn't you know I'd be in my Father's house?"

Thankfully, God never forgets His children... even when parents occasionally do.

Because Jesus Loves Children,

Pastor Karl Bastian
